Shop Class as Soulcraft: An Inquiry Into the Value of Work by Matthew B. Crawford
Crawford owns a motorcycle shop. What is this connection between philosophy and motorcycle guys? If you missed it the first time, you might want to read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.
Sad to say that I never really got into this one. I'm afraid it started out (spoiler alert!) with an, "all of this can be traced back to problems with our system of public education" diatribe. I just couldn't get past that to get to the meat of the book. Not that I don't agree that there are problems - rather, I'd prefer not to linger on them after school lets out for the day. mary s.
