Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer

What would happen if the moon were shifted in its orbit after a meteor strikes it?  That's the premise of this short novel that sees what happens to a family living in western Pennsylvania after  this happens.  There is a sequel, The Dead and the Gone.

  1. I've just started reading, a bit late to be sure but one night has put me a third through. The start is a bit slow and may seem foolish if your 16 or under (anyone?) but things get interesting once the real context of the story starts to develop. I'm left with a somewhat foreboding feeling having read it and living on the east coast, what with 2012 so close. :) But I don't want to give anything away, as if I hadn't already. Anyone who hasn't seen that movie should consider watching it before (or after) reading. It's as good as a movie about the end of days could be, I suppose, coming out of a Hollywood blockbuster background.

Anyways, more on the book to come! I wonder if anyone will read this... :D haha I hope so! I'm looking forward to finishing and moving on to the next book, this is actually really fun.

    Bye for now!

  2. thanks for this Peter. I was first introduced to this book by the Middle School Boys Book Group at the library. They loved this book and its sequel which is set in New York. In the event of impending astronomical disaster, avoid the subways!

  3. Well I finished it today, two days past the deadline... sorry everyone I know you were awaiting this eagerly. It was good, though I felt it drew on a bit long, maybe thats just because I drew the reading out so long on subway rides. The whiny 16yr old departed just toward the end of the book, and of course the suspense build to the last few pages, and then...? Read it yourself. But now it's done with me and on to Alex and Jordan so, send me the next one whoever you are!
